Medshield biggest headache
This medical aid is the worst medical aid ever i have been waiting for an authorization number for more than a week for a procedure. I am in pain but i must run around and get this letter and that letter from doctors. This is unacceptable.

20 Jul 2020, 07:25Good day, As advised previously that the authorisation request has been pended due to non-declaration investigation. It should be noted that this is a standard process for all authorisation requests for members that are on the Scheme for less than 12 months.
Kindly note, HBM ( Hospital benefits management ) is awaiting the medical records from your treating doctor. Once this has been received and reviewed, then will the authorisation be approved / declined in accordance to scheme rules. Yours sincerely,Medshield

24 Jul 2020, 14:27Good day. I called medshield hospital auth section and i was told they received whatever was outstanding from the treating doctor. But what i would like to know is why i received a text saying the authorization request has been declined but the consultant told me on the system the outcome is still pending.
I would also like to find out how on earth was i supposed to wait for an authorization while i was in pain and the doctor telling me i need to go for surgery asap as my tube could rapture any moment and all that happening after hours? Was i supposed to take a chance and risk my life and wait for monday morning to get an authorization?
