Lying medical Aid Company
My Daughter left GEMS, and immediately joined Medshield, they gave medshield all the necessary proof that they were moving from one medical aid to another. Medshield sent them an email saying they had immediate cover, yet have refused my grandughters costs and hospital admission. They *******ly imposed a waiting period of three months on the family, this has caused them major trauma, as their little 4 year old daughter has now landed in St Georges hospital, who themselves are in breach of the law, as they are also refusing to admit the child, unless they get paid cash up front, which is *********. So we have two guilty parties. Now The Medical Schemes Act stipulates that waiting periods cannot be imposed if you apply for membership, or registration as a dependant, within 90 days of terminating cover with another medical scheme and the change is involuntary, due to a change in employment, your employer moving its employees to a new scheme, or your employer terminating a restricted scheme.
