Frustrated with lack of benefit transparency at Medshield (DENIS). I am deeply concerned that the benefits that are displayed in the Medshield benefit rules are contradictory to what we are being told! My 5 year old must have two teeth removed under anaesthetic (to avoid abscesses forming) BUT we have been told that DENIS will not cover it in hospital under anaesthetic, she must have them removed in the dentist room chair OR we can carry the hospital costs? It also does not matter that she is anxious or nervous because as per DENIS that is not a recognized either. Medshield Dentistry benefit stipulates – ‘In-Hospital (only for beneficiaries under the age of 6 years old).’ Queried with DENIS who is not willing to pay for this even though THEIR PREFERRED PROVIDERS have requested it be done under general anesthetic. In addition, the preferred providers (plural) are NOT willing to do this procedure in their rooms under conscious sedation! We are still waiting for the scheme response!
