Compromised Health

So have been with Medshield since October 2024. I recently fell ill and it’s pain on my cervix and went straight to the gynae. Gynae said I have a raptured cyst which needs to be removed, puts me on a treatment hoping it will clear itself but things got worse and I had to be hospitalised. She advised that I should do a laparoscopic cystectomy but Medshield refused to give us authorisation for laparoscopic cystectomy and authorised for me to do a C-Section. My gynae has been trying to motivate for Medshield to authorise for laparoscopic cystectomy instead of C- section because there is no need to cut me open whereas there are more technology advanced ways to solve the problem.They asked for my medical history form my GO which I have submitted but unfortunately I’m not a sickly person and would have flue here and there, which I normal just get meds over the counter.Medshield is forcing me to do a c- section that will not only compromise my health but reduce my chances of having more kids in the future because I already have a c-section from giving birth to my first child. I feel very violated and discriminated against as a women because cyst, fibrosis and all these gynaecological issues are things we have to deal with as women and now when the medical aid refuse to cover for such, it’s really hard. Since the 14th of May, I am in so much pain, going up and down with the medical aid that I pay every month and still has to pay this month.
