Cancellation of membership

I'm very unhappy with the service provided by medshield. As I requested to have my membership cancelled as of 31 december 2017, i was told it was too late, i've been tring to get hold of the customer service from the end of November with no luck. I finally got hold of customer service today the 13 december 2017, but was told I can only cancel at the end of January 2017. Which doesnt help me one bit. I have school fees to pay and many other expenses, What happens if the debit order is rejected who pays for the charges. Can any person at medshield help. Regards Faiyaz

After receiving a call from Brian this morning explaining the rules of the scheme which I spent +- an hour yesterday the 13 December 2017 about the same thing, what can I say what poor service receiving from Medshiels, even after explaining I can't efford the premiums and the next premium on the January 2018 will decline due to funds still do help. One of the worst Customer service received from Medshield. Stay Away.

Good day,

With reference with your complaint.

I can confirm that a representative of the scheme as mentioned above has been in contact with yourself and advised that your membership termination request has been actioned correctly in accordance to scheme rules and protocols. The scheme is registered with the council of medical schemes and is subject to regulatory oversight by them.

Any member may resign from the scheme on giving one month’s written notice.

In a case where the written notice is received within the first seven days of a month the termination date will be the last calendar day of the month in which the notice was received.

In a case where the written notice is received after the first seven days of the month, the effective termination date will be the last calendar day of the following month.

We trust you find the above in order.

Yours sincerely,

Karin Binstead
