Bad medical aid

My experience with Medshield has been extremely frustrating and stressful, especially during what should have been a very important and sensitive time in my life. When I joined the medical aid, I was not aware that I was pregnant. I only found out about a month after joining. Since it was my first pregnancy, I contacted Medshield to ask what steps I needed to follow. I was advised to visit a gynecologist to confirm the pregnancy. I did so, paying out of my own pocket, and submitted all the required documents. At that point, I was reassured that I was covered. As my pregnancy progressed and I needed to prepare for the birth, I began the process of requesting authorization. This is where the experience became incredibly difficult. I was constantly asked for additional information via email, and I had to call between 4 to 7 times a day just to follow up. Each time, I was asked to provide more documents, often repeating submissions I had already made. This back-and-forth went on for over a month while I was simply trying to obtain an authorization code. Eventually, after all the stress and persistence, I received the code. However, my pregnancy later turned into an emergency situation. After giving birth and returning home with my newborn baby, I checked my medical aid portal as I normally do at the end of the month. To my shock, I discovered that my authorization had been denied, and once again, they were requesting more information. This entire experience has been overwhelming, exhausting, and deeply disappointing. At a time when I needed support and clarity, I was met with delays, poor communication, and added stress. I expected better service and reliability from a medical aid, especially during such a critical life event.
