AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY!!!

Thankyou Medshield for reminding me why medical aids are AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY!!! Joined as a member for myself and 3 kids in Feb/March 2020; had to pay 3 months before we could use so first use was in August. No medical aide card or brochure explaining the membership was sent through or received. Membership certificate was emailed which showed proof that I actually was a member. Here's where the problems start, my daughter who is 20 is on my medical as a dependant.........but apparently she is exempt from any type of specialist dentistry........WHAT NEWS TO ME!!! When I asked the agent why this was not disclosed when I joined I was told it is in my brochure.....again WHAT!?? I have never received a brochure or medical aid card or any other documentation other than the emailed membership certificate. So long story short R3500x8 =R28 000 (So we have used R5573.33 which was allocated to 4 members. OH YES and the will still milk me for another months membership fee as immediate termination is not an option - plus lets just add the fact that they pre-authorised an orthodontic appointment or which I had a R1086 co-payment (the day before the appointment) and then still sent it back saying insufficient funds and patient to old for specialist treatment!!!! Had I know I would have budgeted and paid but now I am scrambling to pay medical costs that Medshield approved and then declined!!! Never again will I pay for a medical aid.....Hospital plan maybe...sad thing is SAVVY Healths medical insurance was a better option and paid GP and dentistry and was only R467 p/m.
