Nedgroup medical aid is the pits!!!

I am on the Nedgroup Medical aid, underwritten by Medscheme. The medical aid has been a total nightmare since I joined. Today I went to see a surgeon pending a diagnosis made by my doctor a week. He advised on surgery as there is no other solution to repair a hernia. Called my medical aid to get authorization, they told me my surgeon needs to write a letter of motivation!!! Excuse me!! Motivate why he meeds to repair a painful hernia. I've never heard of this. It's just Bizarre. My surgery is in a couple of hours and no motivational letter yet....What if this was an emergency surgery!! In my 6yrs with discovery (two operations) and 2 with Best Med I've never heard of such. As I wait for the doctor to motivate why he needs to save my life.
