Our Wedding Journey

Although I had a wonderful wedding and I felt like an absolute princess, my experience with Medley House was nothing to Rant and Rave about at all! First of all my husband and I DID NOT FEEL PRIORITISED AT ALL! Although her assistant used to always tell me “that I have no reason to worry because the wedding coordinator knows what she is doing and she makes extra sure that the bride and groom have the day of their dreams” which was very far from that. Thanks to my parents and bridal team we got the day that we wanted. It felt like our wedding was only being attended to “last minute”. Although the wedding coordinator always answered and rep**** to me as soon as I phoned or messaged her, I still did not feel the way I think I was supposed to, by the time we had our final which was about 2 weeks before the wedding all the stuff on my side was done and taken to the venue like the decor and the printing etc that we did ourselves. I honestly enjoyed the planning of our wedding but I also honestly felt like I was my own wedding coordinator and that the actual wedding coordinator was not really coordinating… Second of all, my mother and mother in law spent the night before the wedding at the venue where they landed up sleeping over because they were also getting my stuff done and because my mom did my bouquet and my husband’s boutonnière and my cake and all my girls’ make up she wanted to spend the night before at the wedding venue to finishing all these things and set up for the next day… Need to say that the coordinator LIVES ON THE PREMISES but she did NOT even check up on them ONCE! Not even to offer a cup of coffee or just “hi… are you ladies okay here, do you need anything” the bedroom they stayed in was obviously never cleaned and prepared for them, my mom still showed me photos of the shower in their bathroom and the spiders and webs that were behind their bed! Lastly the wedding day… We all arrived their at around 7 in the morning to start getting ready for the day… I felt very excited to arrive at the venue and see all the things my mom and mother in law did (it was all beautiful and I felt beyond special) a little bit later down in the morning whilst we were all getting ready we obviously all had coffee to drink that were set out in trays for all the bedrooms at the venue so we all had a sachet of Ricoffee, there were 9 of us in total in the bridal suite and there was only 5 sachets in the room and not nearly enough of milk for everyone, one of my brides****s went along with my mother in law to go and see if one of the staff members can please assist in giving us more coffee. After the staff member told us that she will bring us some more… WE NEVER RECEIVED “THAT” SOME MORE! My Husband ordered platters to arrive at 12pm for us and also his room with all the fathers and grooms which would mean that there were 11 men in his room and 9 in my room which was a cost of R50 per person for a platter, the platter arrived after 1pm and the platter was TINY and definitely not near worth of R50 a Mc Donald’s or KFC meal for R39,99 would have been 10x better and more filling (I was VERY disappointed… & HUNGRY). Let me also just add that the coordinator HARDLY CHECKED UP ON US she came in around 10 or so to greet everyone and then we never saw her again until she came to call us to say that we are starting soon! A little bit later on I asked a few of my girls to please go to the reception hall to see if the hall has been set up and if it looks nice because I was excited and curious to see what it looks like and then I also asked them if they can go to the coordinator to please ask her for the confetti baskets and for the flowergirl basket NOT TO MENTION that they came back telling me that the coordinator had ANOTHER COUPLE viewing on OUR WEDDING DAY (no wonder we never felt like a priority) she told my brides**** “girls is this my first wedding, please tell the bride to relax I know what I am doing” and this was very rude and not necessary! I landed up decorating MY OWN flower basket after the coordinator told me on the final that she will decorate the basket and make it look pretty and according to our wedding colours it was NEVER DONE just before the wedding started I had to decorate it myself! The bridal suite/honeymoon suite was set up beautiful and was the only room that was Atleast clean and prepared for us! My mother felt repeatedly offended because she was being rudely treated! Never the less the wedding day continued and we enjoyed every moment of it. My mother is Vegetarian so we had a special dietary meal requested for her, the normal meal for everyone else that all the guests had was very nice I honestly enjoyed the food and we received lots of compliments because of the food but my mother’s vegetarian meal was more of a starter for a toddler. If we knew that she was going to get ONE raw green pepper with a so called filling inside, I would have rather made her a green salad and bring it with 😂 The pudding and cake was good also lots of compliments… The wedding ended at 11pm the dj made sure that he stopped at exactly that time! But still the wedding was still a blast and everyone enjoyed it! The next day I had arranged breakfast with everyone so we bought breakfast baskets at R80 per person. There was one table set outside with a plain white table cloth over and the staff lady was bringing out all the baskets filled with each ones breakfast when I went to help and asked her if I can help take the baskets she said she is fine she will do it but her words after that were “we don’t work on Sundays so you must set it up yourself” I NEVER EVEN ASKED HER TO SET IT UP SO I DON’T KNOW WHY SHE SAID THAT because I was already aware that they not working on Sunday so I knew that I was going to have to do it! Eventually I set it up all nice with my husband and brides**** and put everyone’s name on the table where their basket is I noticed that we were 5 baskets short when I went around the venue looking for a staff to help us get the other missing baskets she was no where to be found and everything was locked, My dad, and two other guests landed going to eat breakfast at a restaurant and myself and my husband had to share breakfast with my mother which was only: a roll, 1 slice of ham, yoghurt, small glass tub of muesli, ****in and a glass of juice… After everything we all went home and I was feeling very negative about everything, I had a feeling of we could have done better somewhere else… Later that afternoon I contacted her and told her that we were 5 baskets short she insisted that she counted everyone in and that all the baskets were correct, I told her that I understand she counted correct but at the end of the day 5 of us did not get to have breakfast and I believe the least she could do was give back the R80! After hearing the negative things from some of the people were very off putting and made me even more disappointed because I was not expecting this kind of experience from a place that is so called rated 4 Stars!!! Some of my long last friend from school got married there and I saw how beautiful and how happy they looked and I was thinking to myself how lucky we are to have chosen this venue but I was VERY Wrong and very upset! The wedding itself was so nice and so fun and everyone enjoyed themselves but I don’t believe that the amount my parents had to pay for the wedding was worth it! Not even close I believe I would have gotten further in my parents garden at home! The coordinator herself was a lovely person but the coordinating in my heart was not the way that is was supposed to have been! And now that the wedding is over and I am trying to get hold of the place as some of my belongings are still there and I requested a refund for the missing breakfast baskets I hear nothing of her and she is leaving my messages on read receipts…

In the end it is true it is what you make of the day and we all enjoyed the day but the journey was not what we were expecting… 💔
