Educate your pharmacy staff, please
When the Doctors at EXP Medical Centre in Constantia, prescribes medication, the process works as follows: During the consultaion, the Doctor captures the prescription onto a Computer in his/her rooms. The prescription is then collected at the Reception Area (and contains the Doctors digital or electronic signature). The point is, the prescription does NOT contain a “wet-signature”. Yesterday, I handed such a prescription to MediRite Bram Fischer, Randburg. The dispensing assistant refused to capture the repeat prescription because, according to her, schedule 5 medicines may not be dispensed against a copy of a prescription. Well, it was NOT a copy. It was an original prescription, just as it was handed to me by the Reception at EXP Medical Centre. Now then, please educate your pharmacies, more specifically your Bram Fischer Pharmacy in Randburg, or educate the GP’s or run the risk of many of us not making use of MediRite Pharmacies in future.
