To the person unhappy with Medicross Kenilworth when they changed from Discovery to GEMS, I would like to educate you on your chosen GEMS medical aid or any other medical aid with NETWORK options.

When you are on a NETWORK only option of GEMS or NETWORK option of Discovery , Bonitas or any other medical aid, you are bound by rules! Rules which you should have been aware of when you join a NETWORK option. There are only certain doctors you may consult that are on your agreed option. That doctor in turn should supply you the medication included in that consultation. If the doctor prescribes medication that is not on his stipulated formula then he will give you a prescription to fill at the pharmacy. Even the pharmacy will not be able to claim for it because it isn't on your prescribed formula and you will have to pay for it.

It is a sad situation that the effect of Covid 19 happened and many people have had to downscale. And I understand your disappointment with Medicross Kenilworth and had to lash out in social media. But reality is also that GEMS or your broker should have explained the logistics with you instead of grabbing you as a means of gaining brokerage at you and your family's expense.
