Upon scheduling the doctor's appointment at Medicross Saxby, I informed the receptionist telephonically that I am with Medihelp Medical Scheme on the Necesse option and that Medicross Saxby seemed to be a contracted service provider, which she then acknowledged and proceeded to make the appointment. Upon arrival at Medicross Saxby reception, another receptionist atended to my registration as a first time patient and asked whether I had medical aid. I confirmed this and said I'm with Medihelp under the Necesse option and upon her request, handed her my medical aid membership card together with my drivers license, which she then scanned. On the registration form I also pointed out that I'm with Medihelp under the Necesse option. I went in for the consultation and afterwards, upon attempting to leave, I was informed that I have to pay R150.00 for the consultation by the same receptionist that scanned my medical aid membership card, which I queried, because the consultation fee is supposed to be wholly covered under my medical aid. Upon enquiring, your accounts department informed the receptionist, who in turn informed me, that Medicross Saxby is not even contracted in with Medihelp, and that I would now actually have to pay R450.00. Upon complaining about this, a gentleman from the accounts department came down and explained that the receptionis who originally made the appointment is new and does not know that Medicross Saxby is not contracted in with Medihelp (which is absolutely no valid excuse by the way), but that they will waive the levy and that I still had to pay R301.00, which I then paid under protest. At no time, prior to the consultation, was I informed that Medicross Saxby was not contracted in with Medihelp, this despite me informing both receptionists I came into contact with, that I'm with Medihelp on the Necesse option. Medicross' representatives' actions amounts to ********** misrepresentation, or at the very least negligent misrepresentation, which coerced me into entering into an agreement which I would not have entered into had I been informed that Medicross Saxby is not contracted in with Medihelp. What's the purpose of filling out the registration form and stating that I'm on a medical aid and handing over my medical aid membership card to be scanned if Medicross Saxby is not contracted in with the specific medical aid and no one informs me of this fact? This is downright ********** and this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
