Dr Heila van den Berg – Extremely disappointing and disrespectful experience What a horrible experience. In all my life, I have never received such poor service or been treated with such disrespect by a medical professional. Today was my first time at this practice, and unfortunately, it will be my last. I had made an appointment for 13:15 today. I was already extremely unwell, having been vomiting repeatedly, experiencing severe dizziness, feeling faint, having abdominal and kidney-area pain, chills, sweating, nausea and other symptoms. I had prepared a list of my symptoms and medical history because I wanted to make sure I communicated everything properly. From the moment Dr Heila van den Berg called my name, I felt unwelcome. She did not greet me or create any sense of compassion or concern. When I explained that I had a list of symptoms I wanted to discuss, she interrupted me and told me that I needed to “make it quick” and “talk fast” because they were busy, mentioning that there were many walk-ins — despite the fact that I had made an appointment that morning for 13:15. I tried repeatedly to explain what was wrong, but I felt that I simply wasn't being listened to. I had to repeat myself numerous times, and on several occasions she asked me again what I had said. I was sitting there feeling extremely sick and vulnerable, and instead of feeling cared for, I felt rushed, dismissed and belittled. What concerns me most is that I went in with a long-standing list of symptoms and very specific acute symptoms, including vomiting and feeling faint, yet I felt that these concerns were not properly investigated or addressed. Instead, I was treated for something else, with the doctor herself apparently not being certain that this was actually the cause. My blood pressure was also taken while I was wearing a thick jacket, which I found concerning given that I was there specifically because of dizziness, faintness and blood-pressure concerns. I am also on chronic medication, yet I was not asked what medication I currently take. When I collected my prescribed medication from my pharmacy afterwards, I specifically confirmed with the pharmacist that my chronic medication would not interfere with the medication that had been prescribed to me. I should not have had to independently raise and verify this after the consultation. There was also an uncomfortable interaction between the doctor and staff in front of patients, which I found extremely unprofessional and added to the unpleasant atmosphere. The worst part is that I was already sick, frightened and overwhelmed, and I genuinely felt like crying during the consultation. A patient who is vomiting, dizzy, faint and clearly unwell should not be made to feel like they are an inconvenience. I understand that medical practices can be busy. I understand that doctors have many patients. What I don't accept is being treated without basic courtesy, empathy, respect and proper attention. This was my first experience with this practice, and unfortunately, it was an extremely negative one. I would absolutely not recommend Dr Heila van den Berg based on my experience today, and I will not be returning. I sincerely hope the practice takes this feedback seriously, because patients deserve to feel heard, respected and cared for, especially when they are at their most vulnerable.

Most unprofessional service received from the reception staff…i booked an appointment last week for 3:30 today, i told them when i got there at 3pm that i have an appointment for 3:30,the staff at reception marked me as a walk in patient, i noticed something wrong after all the people that came after us already went in to see the doctor and left already, we waited for 50minutes without anyone calling us, i got up and asked them what is going on,the lady at the desk admitted that they made a mistake,i told her that we had to drive far to get here so that we can see a specific doctor and that is why i made an appointment for that time and i have to leave now aftee 50min as i have another appointment, she just said we are so sorry!
