Welkom Medi-Clinic is the Worst.

My Mother was admitted on the 18th of April at Welkom-Medi-Clinic for pneumonia and shortness of breath in the General Ward (bed 8: I’m advised that is the isolation cubicle because she was previously a TB patient). I am unable to there with my Mother in this these trying times because I work halfway across the country. However my Mother’s older sister it there alongside her deathbed because of the negligent service she has been receiving at Welkom Medi-Clinic. The patient was placed in isolation since she was admitted and is not monitored sufficiently for someone that is unable to do basic things for herself e.g. getting up and going to the bathroom. She is always in the closed cubicle and is not checked on a regular basis. My Mother’s older sister has to come from her home on a daily basis to assist my mother bathing. The patient had diarrhea and none of the nursing staff was aware of that until the patient’s visitors were there to be the ones that notice that the patient had messed on their bed; asking for clean linen they were advised that the linen had been changed recently (how was it not noticed that the patient had messed in their bed?) the only thing that the sister in-charge could say was that they’re sorry and that did not know that the patient had diarrhea and that the patient is disorientated. On the 23rd of April 2018 around 23:00pm my Mother’s older sister received a call from Welkom Medi-Clinic informing her that the patient had fallen of their bed “but they weren’t hurt” WHAT THE HELL? what was she supposed to do at 23:00pm? Was she supposed to get up and go to the hospital and go pick her up?and again I ask why is a disorientated patient not being monitored regularly? Seemingly that “she wasn’t hurt”, what is the actual point here? Is it okay for sickly patients to fall off their beds just as long they don’t get hurt? Why are patients falling off their beds at night? BECAUSE THE NURSING STAFF IS NEGLIGENT AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY REGARD FOR PATIENTS. No one is doing anyone a favor in the private sector; people pay good money to receive above standard quality care. I am going to be calling Welkom Medi-Clinic to follow up on this this morning and I better get sound answers; otherwise I’ll further escalate. Moving my mother to another hospital will cost us money and we do not see any logic in that because ideally where they are they’re supposed to be in good hands.
