Ward E and their "jesus" Deputy Matron

Medi-Clinic Vereeniging

So my 14 year old had burn wounds and was admitted to hospital. I rushed him in and he was booked in immediately

So from day 1 I had to sit by my son's side as I knew he is not a people's person and is not mature enough to make decisions of this nature. I was sitting on the floor for almost 8 hours. I asked for a better chair ad the ones for visitors is extremely uncomfortable to sit on for long hours. They referred me to the lounge seats which was far from his room. I sat there and missed the doctor.

the night shift started and within minutes the night-shift manager was able to allocate me a reclined seat. There were many in the store room that was un-used.

I asked to speak to the person whom the day shift manager reports to and this person never came. I called from my cellphone to reception and asked the nurses manager to come to ward E as it seems as if my screams were not taken note of. I spoke to her and some of the things were then spoken to to the nurses, but not one thing changed with the day nursing staff.

So from 7am to 10pm I would sit by my son's side and not even asked if I needed a glass of water. I complained and they added me to the menu list

The day nurses would change drips without saying 1 word to me and again I complained.

So near discharge date the form was given to me for complaints or complements. I listed everything I experienced. The Deputy Matron came up very arrogant thinking "color" still matters and I should be scared of her. Well I am educated myself with 2 degrees on my name.

The doctor saw him 9pm at night. We thought, maybe he still has other procedures due, therefor ewe left. I came the next morning 7am and nobody told me 1 thing that was done in the theatre. It took night **** 5 minutes to get the doctor on the phone to explain to me what he did

If your ward E is not allocated to different wards they should all go work at a government hospital, because my medical aid was used, I could have just taken him to Kopanong if I knew this is the services they were going to give us!!

1 jug of water placed the Monday when we got there, On Wednesday the same jug was never even washed, nor water brought.

When asked why the nurses did not tell me anything that they were doing to the drips and all her response was "are you aware that in SA a 12y old can book himself in and out of hospital without my consent?" Well this got me screaming!!! The answer to the above is....WHO THE HELL CHECKED MY SON IN? WHO THE HELL IS PAYING FOR THE SERVICE? A 12 y old ,might be legally allowed to do that if they walked in by themselves. I brought my child in therefore I was legally responsible to be told what they were doing to him The alarm for people pushing the red button for help screamed over 90 beeps at one day, I told her about this. Her response to this was "Why am I worried about the other patience ringing the bell the popi act prevents me from worrying about other people in those wards" My response to this is...what if I was not there and a bandage came off from my son where he needed immediate assistance and rang the bell for them to wait that long for him to be in pain before they can stop chatting about the new lipstick they can now start buying because we are not wearing masks anymore?

Your hospital staff in that ward are a disgrace to nursing. They actually took away all respect I held for nurses because of their attitude. Everyone in Vereeniging is say.....We don't even think of going to Medi-clinic for anything!!! Nobody that is in my circle and everywhere I went has NOTHING good to say about the service received by the nurses in that hospital!!

Now I have a bill that is not paid which is something that was done IN THE WARD that I must now pay cash. If they had just given me details of that they are doing it would have been easier to pay but the Deputy matron needs to understand the law CORRECTLY before thinking she is GOD!!!!!!
