Definitely not a hospital we would recommend to any one. My husband hurt his back so badly that we called an ambulance to transport him to the hospital. They took him to Vereeniging Medi-clinic. We arrived at the hospital round about 7h00. What a colossal mistake. First they left him in casualties about the whole morning without even water to drink. Then when he sent me a message that he is thirsty, hungry and needed to go to the toilet, I decided to phone and find out what the hold up was. It was already lunchtime by then. The lady in the ward told me that They were ready for him a long time ago. At last, about 10 minutes later he was in the ward. The Covid test came back positive - he did not even have any symptoms. From there onwards he was treated like a Covid patient. The surgeon that was called to see him only saw him on the day he was discharged. 4 Days later. Medication was given, but he never examined my husband. He saw the Covid Doctor everyday even though he is still not experiencing any symptoms. During his stay he at one stage dropped his mask by accident and because he was NOT able to pick it up himself he rang the bell to ask someone to assist he to pick it up. The lady that came in was VERY rude and asked him if he was only ringing the bell to ask them to pick up his mask. He then could not call for help seeing that he did not want to bother them. He tried to go to the toilet by himself, but because of the pain is not able to walk properly. He fell in the bathroom and injured his nose(still red and painful 4days later). When he tried to report it, the nurse said that this is a Covid ward and that they are not there to "babysit" him. In these times one understands that hospital personnel are under a lot of pressure, but NO Patient go to Hospital in these times to have a vacation. Each and every patient pay for a service, it is not for free. Then surely one can then at least expect compassion. Seeing that no visitors for a patient testing positive is allowed. Even if they are not presenting with symptoms. He said it was the WORST experience of his life. They will not easily see him again.
