SUB-SKILLED PERSONNEL - NO CARE,,NEITHER COMPASSION.

Admitted to (WardB) on Monday, 13/5/'24 for bladder infection. Medical Specialist advised that oral antibiotic will cease & provided via drip, twice daily. Late afternoon, Sis Sandile installed the IV,& started bleeding at the entry point. Two strips of tape were app**** to the IV & she walked away to collect a plaster, as they had run out of stock. On her return, the bleeding was pointed out, but my request to reposition IV was denied. This resulted in the liquid antibiotic filling the adjacent tissue, causing pain & swelling. The drip was app**** on Tuesday & Wednesday, thru the same IV & the pain & swelling was pointed out but ignored. Wednesday evening, Sis Dube, attempted on three (3) instances to replace the IV, being successful on the third, but this IV also missed the vein & the liquid antibiotic continued to enter the tissue. On Sunday, 19/5/'24, a TransAct srip was app**** in an attempt to alleviate pain & discomfort. On Monday, a fresh TransAct was app**** & discharged. Slept without the TransAct, but on Tuesday morning, the arm had become inflamed & was instructed by the Medical Specialist to return to hospital to treat the pain & swelling created by the badly installed IV's. This resulted in an additional four (4) days hospitalised , TOTALLY unnecessary' caused by BADLY sub-skilled nursing personnel & the cost borne by myself via Discovery Health. In addition, an invoice is submitted to DH, advising that the patient is due to pay R2 819-99 (Type 58), which was not catered for in the second admission. A response has been submitted to Panoram MediClinic on a questionnaire forwarded to me, but no contact has been effected. Unfortunately, the second admittance boils down to sub-skilled training of senior personnel & an attitude of NO CARE OR COMPASSION.
