State of our Private Hospitals

I had the misfortune to have to go to our local MediClinic, I had extreme pain in my right side and unbearable nausea, my husband took me in around 2 in the morning. As I am a private client they will not touch you unless the upfront payment of R 1040.00 was received. The sister who admitted me asked my all the usual questions, one of these was did I have any operations in the last 5 years, my answer was yes, I had a hysterectomy three years ago, she wrote it down, next question I was asked ,are you currently pregnant??? REALLY!! I was in to much pain to comment on that. I was taken to one of the beds and said I must wait the Doctor would be with my now. Doctor came, looked at all the information the sister put on my form, and low and behold he will ask me if I am currently menstruating!!!! Now call me stupid but don't they realize that its fiscally impossible for that to happen. At this stage I was getting bit concerned for my own health, then he turns me around and starts poking me with one finger in the back and asked where is my pain after I clearly showed him were. I was told that he wants to send me for a R 6000.00 CT scan to see what's wrong, my husband asked him if its really necessary, so the doctor said its a 50/50 chance it will show anything, after R 6000.00 you must be sure whats wrong. I told them just to please treat me for pain and the nausea I will go to my GP to help me. Three hours later with the pain and nausea under control I walked out of there with a prescription for indigestion??? I am very disappointed in the private health care sector, maybe I am pregnant after all and only had PMS!!!
