a) I was given a catheter as I was instructed not to move due to the severity of the major surgery performed and had to keep completely still b) My catheter bag was overflowing on several occasions due to medical staff not emptying the receptacle on a regular basis causing pressure on my bladder and pain when I needed to urinate due to the pressure of the liquid. I had to constantly request hospital staff on duty to empty the bag. No one checked up on me. c) I had to remind nurses to empty drainage receptacles. d) Response times with the panic button was shocking and when they arrived I received nothing but attitude when requesting assistance, and in some instances you would get a response 40 minutes later. e) My original surgery gown was not replaced for 3 days (note I was unable to move my arms and required assistance with almost everything. f) I vomited on my gown after surgery and requested help which arrived 40 minutes later and only the top layer of my bedding was changed, not the gown I vomited on. g) I had no bedside table, I was promised one after requesting it, though it never arrived and another patient opposite me loaned me hers as I was immobile due to the surgery. Shocking is all I could say. h) When I requested water, a jug with a glass was placed in front of me, after the nurses were instructed to help me drink with a straw, (the doctor instructed them to assist, as I was unable to move my arms). When I asked for assistance the nurses politely turned their back and I was unable to assist myself to poor the water and help myself drink. They were specifically instructed that I may not lift anything with my arms due to potential bleeding from the major surgery. i) I was bathed with much reluctance on the 3rd day of my stay, I am so disgusted by this. j) Nurses on duty were instructed to remove my drip and catheter on the morning of the 5th September, nothing was done and my doctor reprimanded the sister on duty, she gave us both a filthy look. k) I requested sleeping medication on a few occasions which never arrived, you literally have to beg these girls to take notice of patient care, and pain management. l) The level of noise experienced in the evening was so inconsiderate to other patients that I had to ask staff to lower their voices after all the issues I've had to deal with.
