Poor Medical Care and Service

On the 30th October 2020 at approximately 15h45 my wife was admitted to Midstream Medi Clinic Hospital.

This was due to a post operation complication that was performed at Cure Day Clinic on the 30th October 2020 @11h30.

Once I settled into my hospital bed a male Orthopedic Surgeon visited me and requested that I have x rays done.

I informed the Orthopedic Surgeon that I did not want another drip inserted into my hand, as I was in too much pain.

During the entire process I was feeling extremely drowsy and nauseous. From what I remember, the Doctor prescribed that an ice pack to be placed on my hand and that a Transact patch be put on my hand to relieve the pain.

I fell asleep in an extremely painful state.

I woke up, it was approximately 01h55 in the morning.

Due to the pain, I could not sleep and **** awake for most of the night.

Between 02h00 and 05h00 no night duty nursing staff checked on me.

At 05h30, a nurse checked up on me and it was only then that I was given a new ice pack.

I had an awful experience. all the linen were bloodstained and wet from the defrosted ice-pack.

The Transact patch that was prescribed for pain the night before, was only put on my hand at 06h33 on Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning Dr Van de Merwe, the Orthopedic Surgeon visited me and advised me that there was no need for an operation. From my understanding of the conversation, 'Dr van der Merwe mentioned that he observed tissue damage.

Based on my experience of pain and suffering, I called my husband to fetch me.

The next day, I reported my bad experience to the Hospital Manager - Cherize never got her surname.

She commited to get back to me within 2days. To date, I have not yet had a response from the Hospital Manager.
