My worst encounter with Louis Leipoldt Mediclinic Hospital E.R in Bellville

On 25th November 2021 my son got bitten by a dog. (Rottweiler). My husband and I rushed to Louis Leipoldt Mediclinic in Bellville. Got there, my son was seen to by a Dr. After that, a plastic surgeon saw my son and scheduled an emergency operation to stitch his face, no theater was available and he had to be operated in one of the rooms at the E.R. After the operation he was admitted into Louis Leipoldt hospital where he was held for observation. He was released Friday the 26th of November 2021. The Dr omit to see him the weekend and the wound got infected. On 30 November 2021, he was rushed to Louis Leipoldt E.R to get a Dr to see to his wound, a Dr saw him (I had to open a file, which means payment was involved), but the Dr on duty lack to even take the plaster off and see to the wound. The Dr on duty just prescribed an antibiotic without even having a look at the wound. Later the afternoon, pas started coming out of the wound, and it was then that I realized that the wound actually was infected and developing an abscess. Again another file has been opened (which indicate payment was involved) the Dr on duty opened the wound and instructed staff on duty to clean it. The Dr on duty was extremely glad that I brought my son telling me that I am a very good mother and that it was the best decision ever that I could have taken. The nursing staff was appalled by what was happening. They couldn't believe that the plastic surgeon neglected to see my son the previous weekend. They called the plastic surgeon and he instructed them to take out the stitches. The Dr then advised me that I had to see the plastic surgeon the next day at the E.R. I went the next day and the plastic surgeon was not there. I had to see another Dr on duty and had to fill in yet another form, which mean again a payment was involved. At this stage I was so angry, demotivated and disappointed in this hospital and staff in who I had my faith in for years as both my kids were born at Louis Leipoldt Hospital. They looked at the wound, did not clean it and just put a clean plaster on. The Dr there on duty then called the plastic surgeon and arranged for me to meet the plastic surgeon at his office room. This whole experience is costing my husband and myself 3 hospital bills of which we should not even have received as this was the duty of the Dr's on call to arrange follow up's with my son of which they did not. We are not in a financial position to settle these payments and have to dispute this with the E.R department. Very angry, upset, disappointed and appalled mother.
