Mediclinic kimberely- A life lost - no answers

Last year my dear sister went in to the mediclinic in kimberely for the removal of her gallstones. She stayed overnight and was released the next morning without any further check, mind you this is post-surgery. She kept complaining of abdominal pains and as a health proffessional i asked her what her doctor had prescribed and with her release from hospital was the doctor sure all is well. Over five days she would call be , I am in KZN, telling me she doesn't feel to good but the doctor did advise that she would feel this way after surgery . I then instructed her to return to the hospital because as far as I know , further monitoring needs to be done before a patients is release atleast keep patient for 2 days monitor her food intake, urinalysis etc. That didi not happen.

A colleague of hers went to check up on her, only to find thay her stomach had swelled up and rushed her back to mediclinic kimberley for the doctor who had done the surgery to analyse what could have gone wrong with the operation. They were told the doctor went on holiday on the day she was discharged.

She found a doctor who said the bile had leaked into her body and on some of her organs and the matter was beyond his hands. They then rushed her to mediclinic Bloemfontein where very helpful nurses and specialist tried to help her. Unfortunately it was too late. She was on life support for a month and she passed on last year December.

We have been trying to get hold of the doctor and my sister's files just for us a family to understand how such negligence could have led to my sister's death. We pay so much with the hope of receiving the best service at private hospitals. My other siblings even personally came from Bloemfontein where the whole family had to book expensive BnBs for a month just to make sure our sister could feel our presence and we were there for her.

Fact of the matter is, we are still waiting for mediclinic to tell us what happened? WhAt is were her files not given to mediclinic Bloemfontein when they were requested.

We lost a life through such and nothing can ever replace such. We want justice. We want answers.
