Mediclinic Emfoleni

My mother was admitted to Mediclinic-Emfoleni on the 13th of October 2020. She is 86 years old. What a nightmare!!! The staff ignored her 80% of the time. Even when I phoned, they seldom knew how she was doing because they closed her door (for the Covid) and forgot about her. I constantly had to beg the doctors to go and see her. The doctor's were equal as bad. Horrifying service! They very seldom communicated with her. She was in extreme pain after a back operation on the 7th of October 2020. I had to beg them to control her pain. After she complained that her back was too sore to go to x-rays, they didn't give her a thing to ease her pain, instead they bul**** her to x-rays and back. Her words to me, she thought she was going to die. Misinformation regarding her wellbeing was at the order of the day. She lost 10kg in 7 days being at their mercy. She was not offered a drip to replace the bad food. . She was just told by her doctor that he will subscribe a tablet to boost her appetite. (He never attended to the problem again). She picked up Covid-19 (probably in their dirty ambulance because she went nowhere). The food was so horrible that my dog won't eat it. She left the hospital in such a bad state that I couldn't believe they are discharging her. Her stitches from her back operation had to come out, while she was in hospital. She was told by that very same doctor (while she couldn't even stand on her own two feet) that she must rather go to Vereeniging to have it taken out, the following Monday. (While knowing she is still Covid positive and VERY WEAK). The staff ignored her bell 80% of the time. At one stage she was too weak to visit the toilet. (because her bell was ignored) She was about to faint and started praying, holding onto the wall, on her way there, four steps away. They just argued that they did not hear her bell. The lady opposite my mom - her bell did not work at all. The other patients had to ring the bell for her IF THEY WERE AWAKE. If not, the woman had to suffer in silence. Her husband (Mr. van der Merwe) lost it completely. He started pushing the chairs around as loud as he could, in order to get help for his wife. I can just pray that I NEVER get into a situation where I have to make use of that hospital. I'll rather die then (They will kill me there anyway). In my whole life of 60 years, I have never ever experienced something like that! If I was told all of this, by somebody else, I would have truly believe that they lie. My mom was told (while discharging her) that they can see on her file, that she needs to do something about the incorrect medication for her thyroid WITHOUT subscribing the CORRECT medication! She still doesn't know when she will be able to visit a doctor to fix that because she is too weak to leave her house or travel by car. (I will surely sue them DEAD if something happens to her, because of their little interest in their patient).There were so many errors and misconduct on their side, that I will really need half a day to list all the complaints. These are just a few I can remember. My mother was in Mediclinic-Vereeniging prior to Emfoleni, with NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever. I am very serious if I say, "STAY AWAY FROM MEDICLINIC - EMFOLENI! WITH GOD'S MERCY ONLY, MY MOTHER IS STILL ALIVE today!
