Medi-Clinic Worcester
On 5 November 2019 we received a fixed fee quotation from Medi-Clinic Worscester for and operation that my partner needed to undergo. In the small writing at the bottom the mention that this does NOT include fees for the doctors nor take home medication. The full amount for the quotation of R16552 also had to be paid on admission. we did a pre-admission on 6 November 2019 so when we arrived at the prescribed time of 10h00 on 14 November 2019, reception needed our payment and the ward sister came to fetch us. My partner was shown his room and told that a ward sister would be attending to him shortly for admission etc. At 11.30 the attending anesthetist arrived to do his per-op check just to find that my partner had not yet been admitted and examined by any ward sister and that there wasn't even a filed opened yet.
Eventually all was in place and the operation took place. He was discharged at 17h30. having spent a whole 7.5 hours in hospital. The fixed fee covered a three day stay. On discharge I went to check on what outstanding fees (for the take home medication) had to be settled, just to be told not to worry, they will email me.
Today I get an account that states that an amount of R5258 is still due for theatre costs. Nowhere on the quotation does it say this is excluded. This is the second time Medi-Clinic has done this.
