*********** staff and poor response
I recently had my mother admitted at Louis Leipold for the period of almost 2 weeks. My mother was diagnosed with malignant Glioblastoma and due to certain complications during the Chemo treatment the Oncologist decided to admit her. Her condition demands that she need to be fed among other things. My issue with the service/ support from the staff is that on numerous occasion I need to bring to their attention when we visit that the drip machine is sounding an alarm due to low battery. Considering that it is administering the required medication. Some even have a unbecoming attitude and display a lack of interest or willingness to assist. I suppressed my frustration as I did not want my mother become a victim of hospital staff abuse in her vulnerable state. I do not expect the staff to stand around and focus only on 1 patient. However my experience is that the lack of interest is alarming. There was 1 or 2 staff that stood out and I commend them. The rest can learn from them. I hope that the review can assist Medi Clinic to look into matters and prevent possible future malpractice claims due to staff ignorance/negligence, up their game in providing a professional service that they claim. They should provide a complaints or compliments process for each floor which can assist their management control in identifying risks and improving on their service levels. Their is more to it and I see it as constructive criticism, because their shortcoming impact people and their families emotional well being. I had to caution my father at time as he wanted to engage with the duty staff. I am open to further engagement on what was mentioned.
