Disgrace treatment at Panorama Mediclinic

WHAT A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE MY WIFE HAD TO ENDURE!!!

Reception on the ground floor was 100%, which lasted until we were taken to Ward E on the first floor.

The security person left us at the reception desk on Ward E, where we stood for about 15 minutes without so much as a “hello” from any staff. I guess they were tired from the night shift that would have ended at 7am – but they still managed to have “chats” and “laughs” in the corridor. I must admit that we had a bit of eye contact, but it was clear that they all waited for one another to take the RESPONSIBILITY to attend to us, more specifically, my wife the patient.

We eventually took ourselves to bed 35, following the information sticker we had with us. Thereafter, I went a couple of times to the corridor to see if I can find someone to attend to my wife, but my presence in the corridor seems to push the staff members in different directions. One patient walked passed and asked how I was, and after a brief explanation, she said “good luck”! WOW

It was only at 7am when a (new shift) male nurse attended to my wife, and swiftly sorted all out as the operation on my wife was scheduled for 8am – he knew coming on shift, but we were not aware of it.

Fast forward to the late afternoon when my wife asked for pain medication by using the “bell” which did not work. She managed to flag down a passing nurse, although she got the medication only an hour later – guess it is not the staff’s pain, so why worry!

Fast forward to later in the evening, when my wife again wanted pain medication, and had to resort to phoning the hospital and requested to be connected to Ward E, and asked a nurse who answered the phone for pain medication – which again took an hour to get to her.

The next morning was once again a struggle to get a staff members to discharge my wife.

I really think it is a disgrace to be treated like absolute %W#$% while we have to pay huge amounts to the hospital. The hospital is identical to treatment in our public hospitals, with the exception that they provide bedding to the patients. It is a shame though, because a few years ago it was a 6-star establishment.
