Baby sent home with glass blisters in scalp

<p>My daughter of 23months had an accident at home where the shower door shattered on her on Saturday, 13Aug at about 7am. We rushed to Panorama Mediclinic, as we saw her head bleeding and very small and fine splinters stuck in her scalp and on her hair. We got there by 8am and was the only people there & we were helped quick. They took her weight, wrote down what happened and the doctor came to see us. He didn't check my baby properly for injuries, gave her nothing for the shock and said we must go home and remove the splinters ourselves with water. He only put some glue on 1wound he saw on her head but I found 3 more with glass pieces stuck inside when I cleaned it at home. The nurse came in and said that we should remove it while it is still dry. I explained that we are nervous to remove anything because we did not know where the glass shattered on her but they ignored us and kept saying to go home and remove the glass ourselves. How could the people we trusted to bring our baby to just show us away like that? We went there because we are not qualified to deal with injuries (especially that it is a baby). I expect that from a Day Hospital but to be charged more than R700 and left with your baby 's health in your own hands if you don't even know what to do. I think it is just fair that they refund us and have a proper look at my daughter again to make sure there is really no splinters left behind. I had to sit in the sun to see the splinters poperly, as some were finer than crushed salt. We washed her &inspected her body thoroughly. Question is: how can you ever again put you or your child's life in the hands of doctors & nurses that don't care at all? What happened was unfair, unproffessional & just plain heartless!</p>
