Mecer Bravo

A few years back I bought a bundle deal at Game that included a Mecer Shredder and a laptop plus a few other things. I was more interested in the laptop than everything else. Only today that I opened my Mecer bravo shredder to use in my small office and it won't shred. I just want to find out from Mecer if this product expires or if there is sum thing I am missing. It has never been used and only took it out of the original box today. Please help.
