TERRIBLE SERVICE, ROTTEN FOOD AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
I would not recommend this service to anyone. We booked them for a year-end function, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience:
Communication was poor throughout the process. I had to constantly follow up with Marianna via calls and emails to get any updates.
The braai started late, and the food arrived in containers that were not suitable for keeping meat fresh in the heat. Of the seven items on the menu, only three were delivered on time, with the rest promised to follow, of which one was never delivered and we received the wrong thing. The potato bake we ordered was not delivered at all, and we received plain boiled or roasted potatoes instead, which were unseasoned and disappointing. The roasted vegetables were spoiled, slimy, and unfit for serving. The wors (sausage) tasted off, as if it had been left out for too long, and could be described as somewhat rotten. The pasta salad was bland and nothing like what was shown in the picture—it consisted mostly of pasta and oranges, with no flavor or seasoning. We were not informed that we needed to provide our own serving utensils (e.g., large serving s****s, forks, etc.). We had to purchase these at the last minute. The portions of food we received did not seem to be the quantity we ordered. The only good thing was the gentleman who was braaing for us; he was very professional.
Overall, the quality of the food and the service did not meet expectations, and I would not consider using this company again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry for the disappointment and frustration you endured—especially during a year-end function meant to celebrate and uplift. The issues you raised, from poor communication and late delivery to food quality and missing items, are deeply concerning and not reflective of the standards we believe Meat on Grant should uphold.
We also want to acknowledge the delay in responding. Since taking over earlier this year, our team has been fully immersed in rebuilding—from staff training and supplier relationships to service protocols and food safety standards. We’ve had our heads down implementing these changes to ensure that every client receives the care, professionalism, and quality they deserve.
Meat on Grant is now under new management, and we’re committed to restoring trust and honouring the legacy of this brand. We’re grateful for your feedback—it’s helped guide our improvements—and we’d love the opportunity to welcome you back and show you how its evolved.
Warm regards,
The Meat on Grant Team
