**Extremely Disappointed with Meat on Grant's Service**
I regret using Meat on Grant to cater my Christmas lunch for tenants and staff. The service was a disaster from start to finish:
1. On the morning of the event, Mariaan informed me the spit braai was broken and proposed a flat braai instead. While I appreciated the offer of wors and dessert as compensation, the late notice disrupted my plans.
2. Themba, the Blockman, arrived more than two hours late due to miscommunication about the address—even though I had emailed the correct location four days prior. I had to coordinate with security from another residential estate to guide him to my home, which was frustrating, especially as guests had already started arriving.
3. Upon arrival, the setup was appalling: - The sauce for the pap had spilled all over the back of the vehicle. - The braai grid was filthy and unhygienic. - The table was dirty and lacked a tablecloth. - The meat was not stored in a cooler box and was left exposed to the heat.
4. Due to the pap sauce spillage, I had to send a guest to buy replacement gravy, costing me an additional R237.08.
5. To make matters worse, I was invoiced R600 for roast potatoes, but they were never supp****! This is completely unacceptable and feels like theft.
Overall, this experience was unprofessional, chaotic, and stressful. I would not recommend Meat on Grant to anyone planning an event.
We—the new Meat on Grant management team—want to start by sincerely acknowledging your experience. Marianne, the previous owner, sold the business at the end of last year, and since then, we’ve invested heavily in rebuilding every part of the operation: from team training and equipment to service protocols and event logistics.
Hosting a Christmas lunch for tenants and staff should be joyful, not stressful, and we’re truly sorry that your event fell short of that. Your feedback is not only valid—it’s helped us identify key areas that needed urgent attention, and we’re grateful you took the time to share it.
While we can’t undo the frustration caused, we’d love the opportunity to make things right. If you’re open to it, please reach out to us directly—we’d be happy to offer a gesture of goodwill and show you the refreshed MOG experience.
Warm regards,
The Meat on Grant
