Disappointed with MeatonGrant's negative impact on our business

Our company decided to do a function on Thursday, the 31st of August 2023, to celebrate the arrival of Spring. We arranged with Meatongrant to provide catering for the event, supplying Beef, Chicken, Lamb, and several sides. To our disappointment, several staff members began to fall ill within a few hours after the event, feeling nauseous and having severe stomach issues. Throughout the Friday and over the weekend, the number of people who fell ill ballooned to over 50% of those who attended the event. Several of our staff required visits to the doctor, with some even going so far as needing hospitalisation. We are very disappointed with the response and reaction we received from Meatongrant when trying to resolve the issue. They were completely unwilling to take any responsibility and are attempting to blame other potential issues like a stomach bug/new COVID variant. They also added that they checked with their suppliers and there were no known issues. They then demanded scientific proof that it could be food poisoning. While we did have some staff go to the Doctor and get notes, which stated suspected food poisoning, many staff did not. We cannot prove it was the food poisoning, but everything points to it in our opinion. We have used Meatongrant for years and never had an issue, but it seems that there has been a change in management.

Hi Amelia,

I’m truly saddened to hear about the distress your team experienced following your Spring event. That’s not something any business should have to deal with, and I want to acknowledge the seriousness of your concerns.

Please know that Meat on Grant is now under new management—the business was sold by Marianne at the end of last year, and since then, we’ve been hard at work making significant investment in rebuilding our operations from the ground up. This includes overhauling food safety protocols, supplier vetting, and event logistics to ensure every client receives the care and professionalism they deserve.

While we weren’t involved in the event you described, your feedback is still incredibly valuable to us. We’re committed to restoring trust and would welcome the opportunity to reconnect and show you the refreshed MOG experience.

Thank you again for your honesty. We’re building a new chapter at MOG, and voices like yours help shape it.

Warm Regards,
The MeatonGrant Team
