Stale or not fresh meat

I bought the sheep tripe on the 6th of April, the following day I wanted to cook the tripe when I realized that it was off, it was pealing on its own n sleepary, I tried calling the butchery since we r on a lock down, there was no response, n I am so frustrated that, I've spent money to buy that now I have to throw it away, since I won't risk with my family's health. I mean for a fresh tripe it is not supposed to peal.
