No record of donations received

Meals on wheels had a stall at the Homemakers Expo end of Feb 2015 and I was absolutely shocked with the lack of accountability of the donations received.<br> They asked me whether I would like to make a donation and for that I received a flag. But the staff there had no means of accounting for the donations. They were standing there with hands full of notes and absolutely no record of who gave how much and how much should be cashed in at the end of the day.<br> I asked whether there is any kind of record and I insisted that I wanted a receipt, but nobody else there were given a receipt.<br> I asked how do you keep record of the money received so the answer was \we cash it up at the end of the day". With the question in my mind remaining was how much money is ****** during the day before cash up.<br> I am really appalled that Meals on Wheels did not ensure that some kind of accounting system has been in place. It could have been as easy as issuing coupons / numbered flags for every R10 received. As long as you can reconcile your flags / cash at the end of the day you have control over the donations.<br> Why give donations if you aren't sure it will reach the intended beneficiaries?"""
