Jam Manager Gloria Exploiting Staff

As a senior manager of a retail company I write this review out of shame as a neighboring company lets such behavior go by.

I have interviewed 3 ladies on different occasions who were once Jam casual staff 2 worked in Benoni in 2017, the other worked briefly in Springs in 2018 as they all disclosed, I was stunned when they mentioned that, they worked on several occasions, 5-6 days in 1 week but earned a total rating of 1-2 days, their manager Gloria Shilaye same manager to them all at some point, said it is part of their training and they shouldn't clock-in the machine will kick their clocks out.. One was told she was training for a permanent position, however only to be turned down later because their Area Manager (Irene) cancelled the position she was told.

When the 1st lady I interviewed mentioned it I thought no this can't be true, but the 2nd and 3rd ladies in their interviews mentioned same workplace experience, interviews were months apart but they all confirmed it.. They said Manager Gloria would work them full week with no clock-in and only let them clock-in on weekend, the one from Benoni said her work started before she even had a contract and never got paid for those days. (Rates and Amounts not disclosed for companies protection), I'm surprised she got away with all this to this day, either the company knows of this trickery or nobody came forth.

If this is how the company treats their casual staff it needs to be reported to the DOL, and action taken as this is against the Employment Equity Act, if it is the sole action of the manager, Gloria Shilaye is exploiting young girls looking for a bright future and is ruining company's image.. She ruined their entire experience in retail, It is shameful.
