Special order in the food industry

I went to McDonald's in Plumstead on Wednesday 6 February. I opted to place my order at the drive threw. My son takes his usual, happy meal, cheeseburger and apple juice while I went for the medium quarter cheeseburger.

This time I noticed the price on the menu board was R52.00 for the meal. As the person (Balisa T, crew no id 17) was taking my order starting ringing up my order, I realised that they charged an extra R2 for the Fanta. Out of curiosity I asked why because to my understanding it was a straight 52.90 for the meal (burger, fried PLUS drink).

I was advised that it's a marketing thing and the "meal" includes the burger, fries coke or coke light...

I understood, well not really but I figured speaking to a screen about a head office decisions was pointless and went to the next window to pay.

Got the food and went home and ate my food. BUT I noticed I was one of the customers that recieved a 'special order' because the amount of tomatoes sauce that was on my burger was enough for 5 people!

Why is "special orders" allowed in these food places. Why can't a customer ask a question and not be a victim of ugly customer service. There are so many good, hardworking, honest people out there but because the vacancy has been filled with *********, childish, disgusting people the good ones are still struggling to find ways to put food on their plates!

I will never go to McDonald's in Plumstead again. I'm not looking for a freebie or my money back.

I just want fellow customers to be aware as I'm sure crew no 17 was aware what they were doing and she still let me pay for that.
