Shocking unaccountability
Shocking unaccountability McD App order - ***
I ordered from the McD App which sends me to the Okavango store.
A few days ago I placed an order on the McD App and after 2 hours of not receiving any communications, I phoned the Okavango store to find out what was going on. Well, I didn't 'just phone' the store, it took an hour of phoning before some noob picked up. Trucaller says I phoned 17 times before I got an answer.
So I start speaking to the noob who has no idea what I'm talking about. I gave the order number, explained that the money has been taken from my account for the order, but no driver tracking emails have been received and there has been no updates for 2 hours.
I asked what do we do in this situation, of course the noob had no idea. I suggested the manager and taking a drive to the store to show the manager my order details. The noob told me the manager isn't at the store, there is no manager. Saying that I'd have to wait a few days to hear back from the manager.
What is the point of having store managers if they aren't at the store during peak rush hours? It's also quite scary to think that newbies can just do what they want to our food unsupervised. Nice accountability there.
So I said, well, I paid for this food, what now? Is there anyone else I can call or anything I can do? The noob just said flat, 'no', as if tough luck sorry for you. I can't find your order so that's your problem.
I was quite taken aback, but I am used to dealing with noobs so I tried to find contact and support numbers to assist myself and of course, there weren't any that I could find. Nice work corporate.
I asked what now, I'm hungry. The noob said, sorry, you'll just have to reorder and use another App to get food. I ordered Burger King from another App.
haha - if you're from McDonald's reading this now, you're probably chuckling thinking this is all going according to plan. Nice to see corporate capitalism working so efficiently while taking no accountability.
Three hours after being told I have to wait for the store manager's return, ordering and finishing some BK, I get a call from Okavango. Another noob tells me, "Hi sir, I switched on the computer and I can see your order from 5 hours ago. I am sorry we missed it, I had to switch the computer on to see it."
At that point I was just thankful they acknowledged the order, so I said, I just ate BK and I am full. Can we do a refund on this 5 hour late order?
The noob said 'no'. The only thing the noob could do is process the order immediately and have it sent.
I explained that that option is extremely inconvenient given the fact that I had just eaten BK and wasn't ready to eat again. Could they please schedule a delivery for later in the evening and I'd have it for supper. The noob told me, that's my tough luck, that's all she can do is send the order right now.
So I was nicely bul**** into being the victim of more corporate dictation where corporate has clearly messed up.
I mean this McDonald's and others I frequent make tons of mistakes on my orders all the time. Like forgetting my McFlurry, forgetting my BBQ dipping sauce, not reading instructions for pickles, onions and tomatos, not swiping my App points before completing my orders.. the list goes on.
I mean I get it, these guys are complete noobs that are probably working under extremely poor conditions and their care level for their work is probably what they receive from corporate, which is in the gutter.. so I really get it. I started working at Panarottis slice away when I was sixteen and the 16 hour shifts can get to anyone.
The point is, I let tons of things slide and never expect anything in return. But being given the run around for 5 hours and not even getting a regular, decent outcome from the service that I support often enough even when they mess up this badly, even got to me.
Of course I could have easily pushed opening a case with the CPA and I have lawyers on call to handle this type of stuff for me if I really feel like sticking it to anyone, but that is so unnecessary on so many levels.
Which is what brings me to today's order: *** About an hour into the order I noticed no updates on the initial order after my money had been deducted. I knew from experience that the staff have not 'switched on' or checked the McD App order system.
I proceeded to phone the store just to ask someone to switch the Order System on and acknowledge my order. No big deal.
Except, the McDonald's Okavango phone was switched off. These guys must not like getting phone calls after the last time I spent an hour trying to get hold of them with the phone just endlessly ringing.
Knowing what the immediate problem was and how my order may sit around for hours before someone with the knowledge actually realises it's there, I decided to take the time out of my day and head to the store to report the issue.
So I get into my car, (which was unnecessary and paid extra not to do), used my petrol (which was unnecessary and paid extra not to do), and wasted my time (thanks) driving to the store to explain the situation.
Now there were two managers at the store, and when I gave the manager the details of what happened - the intial response was, 'I don't know what you're talking about, I don't see any order for you.'
I was shocked. The noob mentality spreads from the managers down to the staff. What a surprise.
I then assisted them with thinking about checking the McD App order system properly - and what do you know, they started rattling off my order details to the kitchen. They still forgot to leave the pickles off the Big Mac, but I'm not splitting hairs.
I told the manager, this is the second time you've done this within a week or so. Because your phone is not working, I have taken the time to come assist you perform your duties at my own expense. I've paid a delivery fee for food that I was forced to collect.
Is there anything you can do for me?
The noob manager just looked at me and said 'no'.
Actually quite shocked again, I said ok and left the store with my base order.
Now I have had to spend 30 minutes of my day writing this silly, obvious review that is probably a carbon copy of every other service review you receive because your business and many other similar are fundamentally broken.
The level of care and support the staff receives reflects on the level of support they provide.
I've learnt my lesson and I will no longer be supporting the brand, but for your other customers.. do better, noobs.
