Redeeming points at self service kiosk

I tried to redeem my McDonald's points at the self service kiosk but upon attempting the transaction failed and I lost 5000 points. The staff told me I must just wait 30 minutes and my points will come back but it never did. Now I lost 5000 points without being able to receive anything for it in return. How can I be compensated for this?

This happened at Woodlands on 30 April around 2pm
