Poor service and bad choice of wording to customers

We went to the Pinetown branch of McDonald's at about 10pm to order a meal, we had been moving house since 12pm. When we arrived there the walk in door was locked to the public, and the other door for deliveries was also locked. The drive thru was jam packed.

One of the staff members tried to get us in, but management said no entry. We were forced to walk up to the drive thru window to order our meals, which the same staff member recommended we do. As we were about to order our meal, the manager on duty came up to us and said: "We aren't allowing any more walk ins for your protection as well as ours." We ordered our meals which came to R690, it was 14 meals altogether. The same manager then started to push the drive thru meals and we had to wait for three orders to first be handed to the drive thru customers before he confirmed our order no 1963.

Within a few minutes we were handed our drinks first, then our first 8 meals. We came back to get our remaining 6 meals, and left. We spent 27 minutes from arrival to departure, the only reason we went there was because all the other fast food options were closed since 9pm.

The we I'm referring to was me and my 5 month pregnant sister in law, just to clarify. Not happy at all with the service, I too have fast food management background, and I wouldn't imagine a 24 hour restaurant closing their doors for safety reasons. As far as I know the customer is King, and the management has to live with the fact that if the customers stop buying from their establishment they will close down. Definitely won't be going back to this McDonald's if I had a choice.
