Money is money, Right?!
So, in the past work week, I've been to McD's in Rosebank (Oxford Road near Baker Street) 4 times, because i am truly enjoying the Big Mac special. For the most part, the service is general, with only one staff member being the true epitome of customer care, within her means, that is...
The problems I've had, though are what might seem minuscule, but I say the principle of it is the crux -
1. On three occasions, I paid R50, expecting R10.10 back, only to receive R10... Their answer to why has always been - "We have no change". 2. I paid and was handed R20 in R2 coins, once again, "we have no change"... 3. Today, I was ordering, and the server says to me "Have you got R3, because we have no change". (She must have seen the R100 in my hand...)I rep**** "Seriously, you are refusing to place the order and losing a paying customer because you do not have change?". She then proceeds to "shout" across to the manager, who was in the cooking area, standing chatting to one of the staff, and only on the THIRD call does he snap back at her that there is no change... At this point, my disgust is reaching new levels.
Till now, i found the scenarios irritating at worst, but with the money thing, now you can have it all -
I found the general staff attitude was indifferent to the customers (like they were doing them a favour???), the conversations were borderline condescending to customers and downright rude when they were personally chatting while a customer waited, with a care less mentality about the quality of food served... I've had semi-cooked chips, old chips, burgers were cold or warm at best, the actual burger and contents "slapped together" in a way that needs me to re-stack it in an edible manner. Chips portions have been variable, sauces on burgers are not consistent, or a few times where so minimal you have to sc**** the whole bun to get one taste... In one case i even had the wrong sauce.... Ordering is sometimes a frustration because they Do. NOT. Listen... "Hi, Please can i have a Big Mac Medium, Sprite no ice, to sit". This is what they need right? But invariably i repeat it at least another two times before the bored eyes lift and they hand the ticket over...
Now, i don't have time to go back for a re-make, plus i fear more what staff would do to my food because i sent it back... The service is borderline deplorable, the quality is inconsistent, the place has flies (even with a bug zapper on the wall), you are expected to move while they wash the floor, the toilets are never totally clean.
In short, except for two staff in that franchise, who have shown an eye to customer service with a smile, i am honestly disgusted that the place is run as a backyard takeaways, rather, than as a franchise location that has a name to uphold....
