McDonalds mall@carnival rule or general rule?

Ordered McDonald's for my teenage kids to sit in and was told I am not allowed to eat anything not bought at McDonald's. I don't eat McDonald's as it doesn't accommodate my dietery requirements. After buying food there for my kids, I find this rule very offensive.
