McDonald's is stale

So yesterday my mom and I went to have lunch at McDonald's Waterfront in Bloemfontein. When we received our food, my moms burger bun was stale, we called the waiter, told him about it and his answer was: " eat it anyway you already ate it, we ordered the bun and they came in that condition from our supplier". I didn't understand!
