McDonald's and ubereats messed up my order

On the 6th of September 2024 at 15:25 I was at Johannesburg Zoo with a group of kids and we placed a McDonald's order through ubereats Order #3B847 for 15 happy meals plus 1x veggie burger meal. Upon receiving our order, we immediately realised that we only received 14 x happy meals (instead of 15). We reported the matter and were promised a refund by Uber eats for the 1 x missing Happy Meal. We were all happy and kids continued playing on the lawn. A few minutes later, upon opening each Happy Meal box we realised that none of the happy meals had toys. As if that was not enough, we received a McRoyale as opposed to a veggie burger meal (we have pics). This was extremely disheartening as this order was for a group of kids from our daycare centre and the children were very disappointed as they were promised toys, but they did not arrive. Furthermore, the child who the veggie burger meal was for was left starving as the meal that was sent had meat and therefore didn’t cater to their dietary requirements. I managed to get contact number for Mc Donald's Rosebank so we could come up with a quick resolution, even if it meant I had to pay uberconnect to collect the one Veggie meal plus the toys, however the call was never answered. I was then faced with the task of calming the two kids down (the one whose Happy Meal was missing plus the vegetarian kid).

Well, on Saturday I tried calling Mc Donald's head office but I got a recording that it was outside of their working hours since it was on weekend. Well, my Monday was hectic and when I contacted Mc Donald's on Monday, I was told to take this up with ubereats. I feel that is unfair because ubereats did not pack the order. The order was already packed when the ubereats driver went to collect it. The people that messed up the order were McDonald's Rosebank staff.

Please help as Mc Donald's is sending me to Ubereats and Ubereats says I took too long to contact them. I was putting out fires the whole weekend, not to mention the stress that I was going through as a result of this mess up.
