McDonald's Durban - Salmonella Hospitalization

<p>Good day All,</p> <p>This is the first time I’m posting on Hello Peter. The reason for my post is because i feel all should be informed on what I’ve experienced in this past week....</p> <p>I went to McDonalds (Old Fort Road) last week Sunday 31/10/2016 on my way home around 7pm, i purchased a few meals, my meal being the double jalapeno meal. Upon eating the burger i notice a considerable colour difference between the two patties. Foolishly i proceeded to still consume the burger, because i know McDonalds prouds themselves on having a high standard of quality, or so i thought they did.</p> <p>I woke up on Monday morning 01/11/2016 with extreme abdominal pains and a runny tummy, at this point i didn’t realize how serious the situation was, this continued until Wednesday morning were i had no choice but to seek medical help. I went to see the GP and within minutes of examining me, he immediately called a Gastroenterologist to have me admitted into hospital. </p> <p>I was admitted in Parklands hospital and put into an isolation ward, bloods and stool samples were taken immediately by Lancet Laboratories (I must commend the lady who took my sample, she was so warm and brought a smile to my face) The Gastroenterologist needed to do further investigations as to why my runny tummy hadn’t subsided. I went in for a procedure called Sigmoidoscopy so that the Gastroenterologist could see what was going on inside of me and if the treatment that was being administered to me was in fact resolving the issue. </p> <p>My runny tummy only stopped on Saturday 05/11/2016 (Almost a week after i consumed the Salmonella infested McDonalds burger) </p> <p>I was discharged from hospital on Monday 07/11/2016 and have to still take a course of antibiotics for the next 5 day. </p> <p>The standard of food industry in South Africa is appalling, as most of us don’t bother to put out there experiences to the rest, and cases such as the one i just described goes by without anyone know about it. And this is the main reason why I’m letting everyone know. </p> <p>PS - I had to send my toasted veg sandwich back at the hospital coffee shop, as it had mould on the crust, a place I least expected to see this happening.</p> <p>I hope that the health inspectors see my post on Hello Peter, and investigate both these establishments.</p> <p>My fellow South Africans, please take care and if you see something please report it, so that these establishments can be taken to task for their negligence and poor preparation procedures</p>
