MacDonalds Arcadia ~ Young people who hate their jobs

Dear McDonald’s

I am writing to lodge a complaint regarding the poor and disrespectful service I received at your Arcadia branch on Hamilton Street on 06 June 2025, just after 12 noon.

I went through the drive-thru to place an order. While I was trying to explain what I wanted, the staff member assisting me at the intercom was extremely impatient. Before I could even finish placing my order, she cut me off and switched off the speaker. I kept saying “hello” to check if she was still there, but she gave no response.

Instead of continuing to assist me, she proceeded to help another customer on the opposite speaker. As soon as I moved forward in the queue, she immediately helped the person behind me, ignoring me completely. When I got to the window, I was shocked to see some staff members laughing and no one seemed sure of what my order was. I explained that I hadn’t even been given a proper chance to place one. At that point, I was frustrated and embarrassed so I simply said, “Just give me a kiddies meal.”

To make matters worse, the kiddies meal I received was of very poor quality. The patty was extremely dry and hard, it looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time. I took photos and a video to show how bad it was. I was tired, not feeling well and only wanted a quick meal but instead I was left feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed.

It was disheartening to be treated like this, especially by someone who looked like me. I didn’t raise my voice, I wasn’t rude, I was just trying to place a food order and was instead made to feel like I was a problem. We often choose not to complain but this kind of treatment should not be acceptable.

I respectfully request that this matter be looked into and that your team is reminded of the importance of professionalism, fairness and basic respect for all customers regardless of who they are.
