Disgusting treatment in the workplace
I am utterly disappointed. My cousin was employed at McDonald's Protea Glen in November 2023 with a temporary contract. He worked till May 2024 and he resigned in the end of May 2024 with his contract due to expire in June 2024. While working there, my cousin was on shift in March and had to use his phone to light up the outside space where there should be light. While doing so, his phone was ****** or lost and the manager on duty, Adele, was informed and she had promised to deal with it, and to date, the phone hasn't been replaced or accounted for. Also While working there, my cousin would work 6 days straight in the week and it would be night shifts, and he would be expected to be his best with these hectic hours. The current manager, Brenda Dlamini, made it difficult for them to work in their environment as she has introduced an unfair and toxic environment for them. She would scold them, belittle them and treat them differently. Many employees have resigned as a result of Brenda Dlamini's hostile environment. They were also only granted a 3 day sick leave, while my cousin was recovering from a flu and heavily medicated. While there, you'd experience her hostility by the employees reactions when she's around. Now, my cousin has received a letter for a disciplinary hearing today (19 July 2024) for a hearing on the 11th of June and says that he hasn't been to work since the 8th of May, which is false. I am highly disappointed that this is how your company treats its employees and allows substandard "managers" to make workplaces toxic and leaving our brothers and sisters with no choice but to resign to maintain their mental health. This is absolutely disgusting to say the least. Brenda Dlamini continues to run McDonald's Protea Glen in a mock and into the ground. What do you say about this? Is this fair? Is it allowed? Fix this McDonald's, FIX IT!!!
