Cannot take an Investec credit card

I was in a hurry and needed to get fast food for lunch. When I got to the till to order, the lady informed me that their card machine doesn't take visa credit cards because the machine is old . What kind of business doesn't take visa?! I don't like carrying cash with me in the CBD as its dangerous. I'm really not impressed with McDonald's staff or service.
