Bad taste left in mouth

I placed an order with McDonald's delivery service in Springs Gauteng. My order was placed at 18:00pm and I was advise that the delivery will take 15 - 20 min.

When my order had not arrived by 18:45pm, I followed up on the status of my delivery, as I tried to sympathize that it is supper time, busy and most people would rather be ordering in with the weather being miserable.

after being put through to the Springs branch - we were told that they were doing what they could but deliveries were delayed due to peak times...

At 19:30pm (an hour and a half after placing the order) we phoned the call Centre again who transferred us to the branch again and I spoke with the gentleman incharge of deliveries for Springs (Bongani): he apologized for the delay and tried to calm the situation and explained the delivery had left and would be by us shortly.

At 19:45pm, our order arrived... To the fear of what we expected: the food had gone cold (even though it was kept in the drivers insulated carry bag) due to the waiting to be delivered.

my issue here is not with any one individual, or that we were treated or spoken to rudely - because we weren't. My issue is that McDonald's is providing a service, a convenient way of getting "fast food" deliverd to your house... SURELY, someone could have had the fore sight to say to me "we have many deliveries before yours or our drivers are all out still... But your order will now take over an hour".

OR.... Common decency should have kicked in at the branch and someone SHOULD have called back after placement of the order to say "sorry for the delay, it's taking longer than expected."
