Claim that is not handled since September 2014
I have lodged a claim for damages to my boat in September 2014 and supp**** all the info requested an assessor was allocated and he instructed an boat repairer from Richards bay to inspect the boat and supply an quote. The assessor informed me he gave his findings to the insurer. I kept in contact with them in regular intervals when they assured me they would get back to me. This carried on until end of November 2014 when I proceeded on my annual holiday. I proceeded to Sodwana bay where my boat is stored and had it fixed at my own cost. I phoned the broker at McCrystel and he said it is fine I must forward him the invoice which I did. Earle January 2015 a new assessor was appointed and I gave him all the necessary documentation every week I phone him for feedback then he give me some lame story.
In response to the complaint that was submitted on 24 February 2015. McCrystal Insurance Brokers appointed D.W. Miller on 1 October 2014 to assess the damage to the vessel which was damaged in Sodwana Bay.
Mr Els supp**** a quotation from Z Craft who are based in Empangeni, but this quotation was drawn up without Z Craft having been able to look at the vessel.
This being the case Mr Miller wanted to meet with you but you advised it was not possible as you could not take any time off during your holiday.Subsequently the vessel was repaired and a repair invoice from Boat Repairs North West was submitted, who are based in Klerksdorp. A second assessor, Smitherim &and Associates was appointed to go to Klerksdorp to assess the damage, however you then advised that the vessel is back in Sodwana.
We still await the invoices for the parts that were bought by the repairer, as we were not afforded the opportunity to see damages before repair. We await these invoices.
To date both assessors are unable to verify the damages to the vessel and if repairs were actually carried out.
