To whom it may concern
I took out a McAfee anti-virus subscription on 23 May 2022, and paid R642.22 for the privilege. Information provided with the software also indicated that I could transfer the protection to other PC’s or laptops. Since downloading and paying for the software, I’ve received endless reminders and warnings (pop-up windows) that my “free trial period” for use of the McAfee software has expired. The same message “pop-upped” on my PC within days of downloading it. So, what is going on here? I have PAID for the use of this virus protection software and now McAfee expects me to pay AGAIN? The bottom-line is this: McAfee insinuates itself into users’ computers by coming preloaded on purchases of new hardware. This seems to be a special arrangement with the computer companies. So, I’ve started a forced “relationship” with McAfee. Now, if this is how they conduct business, I won’t renew the subscription in 2023, that’s if I don’t cut my losses and get virus protection from another service provider like Trendmicro, Norton or Kaspersky…, right now. Adding to my frustration, is the fact that it is extremely difficult to communicate with McAfee. All the functions on the website are designed to automate problem-solving by merely providing information on generic problems via: FAQ’s Community forums Etc. There is, therefore, no facility on the website through which one can communicate a personal issue. Lastly, you also cannot contact them via their emails, because even those are of the “no reply” type. So, could McAfee explain how to manage this situation?
Yours “not so happy” temporary user of McAfee antivirus protection software. P Cronjé.
