SABC Licence fishing trip/ scavenger hunt

Over 10 years ago I was married. Prior to which I had an SABC TV licence in my name. We moved into my wifes house and she too had a TV Licence. I cancelled my TV Licence. I then had an acrimonious divorce.<br> When I tried to get a TV licence again the SABC insisted on charging me for the years I was married and I objected as this is patently unfair as you don't have to pay for something twice. Affidavits were sent along with some forms to the SABC and that was in my mind the end of it.<br> I then shared a property with a housemate who had a TV Licence and as we only had one TV there was no need for me to have one.<br> Fast forward a couple of years and I move into a home with my new partner and she has a TV licence and we still do.<br> Now I get a letter from MBD attorneys saying I owe R3774.50 for a TV Licence. I phoned them because I have nothing to fear and I am hiding nothing. The rep told me that I could pay half today and clear my name. YAY!!!<br> Except I don't owe anything and I would much rather pay 100% of the nothing that I owe.<br> The rep then told me that I in fact was legally obliged to have a TV licence as well as my partners because we are not married.<br> I want these vultures off my back<br>
